Forward Keel and Partial Bottom Replacement

This 26' had a serious problem in the bottom. The entire forward keel was replaced along with the knee and partial stem. The garboard planks had to be removed because of rot as well as to remove entire forward keel section.

The rest of the planking was fitted with 8 to 1 scarf joints glued and screwed. Marine fir plywood was used to match the original. Bottom was primed in red lead before painting.

These photos show the factory jigs that fit over and under the keel and stem assembely so as to cut the rabbit for the planks to fit into.
