The Legendary Lyman Cat
I have heard stories
from old timers about this boat ever since I've been around Lake
Erie (Since 1963): 'Yeah I sailed from South Bass to Cleveland
one night in 8 foot seas' That would have been one hell of a long
and uncomfortable ride in this little piker!
For you non sailors - the Cat
refers to the rig: single mast with only a mainsail and no jib.
The very picturesque East Coast sailboats shown in Maine
postcards are usually catboats.
The other sailing cat is a twin hulled screaming monster properly
called a catamaran.
